Monastery Candy is produced by the Trappistine Sisters of Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey. For over 50 years they've been making candy on a beautiful bluff in Iowa, high over the Mississippi River Valley. As part of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, they are dedicated to living the gospel of Jesus Christ as monastics have done for over 1,500 years.

Their candy business supports their contemplative way of life. They support themselves by manual labor, especially by the sale of candy, which is prayerfully made with the care and the loving attention to quality they bring to the whole of their life. 

The 18 oz. gift box of 40 coated caramels includes half with milk-chocolate and half with dark-coated chocolate.
